Telemedicine App Design Project Overview

Problem Statement

This project aimed to create an experience that allows patients to connect with the best available doctors in their region to attend to their medical needs. The objective is to create a seamless experience for booking appointments with a doctor digitally and for any other medical requests.

Research

Survey
  • We conducted an open-ended survey followed by a close-ended survey with 10 users.

Interview
  • We conducted 10 user interviews to gain qualitative insights into the problems users face when using the Internet to find the best doctor.

User Analysis

From the user analysis, the following pain points were identified:

  • Long waiting times to see a doctor.

  • Patients prefer discussing personal and private issues over the phone to overcome the shyness of facing the doctor in person.

  • Patients desire the ability to book and receive reminders for appointments with doctors and specialists.

  • Users typically seek recommendations from friends and family first, followed by ratings and reviews.

  • Rescheduling appointments to another time is challenging.

User Flow

The main objective of the app is to provide an easy way for patients to book appointments.

Wireframe / Low Fidelity

  • Initially, I created paper Lo-Fi sketches to develop a basic concept for the designs.

  • Designed Low-fidelity wireframes based on the User Flow, creating 25 screens over a couple of days.

Main Project / High Fidelity

Testing and Iterating

  • Tested the high fidelity prototype with 3 users who performed the main objectives of the app effortlessly:

    • Booking an appointment with a particular doctor within a given time.

    • Viewing appointment details and canceling the appointment.

  • The users successfully completed these tasks, indicating that the app effectively addressed user pain points.

Typography & Colors

  • Chose blue with color code "#0040DD" as the primary color for its association with calmness, stability, inspiration, and health. The bright and saturated color evokes a sense of freshness and modernity.

  • Selected "GT Walsheim Pro" for typography, using Bold, Medium, and Regular styles throughout the project.

Onboarding Screens

  • Developed walkthrough screens to showcase major features of the app.

Login & Sign In Screens

  • Designed screens for user login and sign-up.

Home Screen

  • Developed a comprehensive home screen that serves as the central hub for the app's functionality.


Conclusion

In today’s fast-paced digital world, hospitals and clinics continue to improve their patient experience using high-level, easy-to-use software solutions like EMR. Implementing a Medical Video Consulting system will help improve efficiency, work-life routine, and capture more patients while remaining competitive in the healthcare market. The app is a great alternative to queue systems and appointment-on-call systems.

Medicare app will provide an easy and effective experience for connecting patients with the best nearby doctors. It offers self-scheduling options and automatic reminders, ensuring patients never miss upcoming appointments and feel that a medical practitioner is only a call away.
